ROBO WARS 1.1 INTRODUCTION
A hearty hail and welcome, fearsome Roboid warrior-to-be... If you have just
been deposited onto this fierce and inhospitable world through some
regrettable circumstance in your spacefaring travels, take heart (although
if you've gotten dumped off here, you must not be *too* fearsome, eh? *nudge*
*nudge*, *har* *har*).
This message has been placed here to give newcomers a sense of what they are
up against here on Robidium. Pay attention or your stay here may be short
indeed. Your new cyborg body will last a millenium... unless you screw up
and provide well-deserved amusement for some of your homicidal fellow
Roboids. Rest assured you will not appreciate their sense of humor.
The general idea of what Roboids call The Game is to stalk your fellow
citizens (Robo Warriors) and snuff out their insignificant lives before they
can do you the same favor (or worse... *shudder*). Simple, right? Wrong.
Dark forces reside on Robidium which are gleefully dedicated to causing you
unspeakable quantities of grief and harm.
If you are a strong warrior with loads of armor, courage and wealth... then
by all means pile on in and hack away... go have yourself a ball! However,
if you are perhaps a tad worthless and weak then you may consider hiding in
the Galactic Maze for awhile and steal useful items dropped by the dead,
dying or just plain dumb. Beware, though... as you may suspect the Maze is
not Mister Rogers Neighborhood. Bad things have been known to happen 'round
these parts with shocking frequency.
For starters, the axiom "honesty is the best policy" has never been heard or
even considered on Robidium. Thieves here are as thick as the atmosphere.
Pay attention to your internal energy levels as well. You are a cyborg now,
but you are not the Terminator... catch a cold from the kinds of mech-disease
found on this miserable planet and you will find yourself slime fodder in
short order. Slime fodder?? Yes, thats right...slime. This ain't that
cutesy-pie goo that you've seen in your primitive Terran movies. This stuff
packs a wallop that has to be seen to be fully appreciated... preferably
while attacking somebody else.
After you've been slinking around the Maze for awhile you should have picked
up enough booty to be able to afford to outfit yourself with weapons and
armour. Beware Mr. Nuke, the arms merchant, though. He's a shifty character
who can't be trusted further than you can throw a grand piano. Caveat Emptor
is his creed... and that means he'll take you to the cleaners if he can get
away with it. For instance, he's been known to happily exchange high quality
weapons for low-grade ones with inexperienced or ignorant buyers without
negotiation or hesitation. Know what you're buying before you buy it.
This is just a short briefing. Experience is the best teacher... Good luck!

COMMANDS: Your new cyborg body has a number of basic functions. Learn them
or perish ignominiously!
A)ttack - To attack another robo you must both be in the same sector. With
this in mind, it is not a good idea to leave the game while at
the starbase (Main Menu). All players visit here upon logon
and will surely attack anyone foolish enough to linger here.
S)hop - This is where Mr. Nuke conducts business. Buy weapons, armour
and extra energy here if you have the funds. Be careful or you
may trade Nuclear Weapons for Rocks! Sorry no returns or refunds!
N)ews - This is the Robo Wars galactic newspaper. If you can read
use it to learn who attacked who and learn of the outcomes.
B)ank - When you find or earn loot you have the option of putting some
assets in a "safe" place (well, *safer*, anyway). A smart Robo
doesn't keep all cash in one place. Beware of bank robberies!
L)ocate - This command gives valuable data about your opponents! Your spy
net has information on all other robos and their locations. Use
this information for the hunt!
I)nquire - This command will give you information about your current status.
While in the maze this option will be available to you.
E)nter - This command teleports you to the Galactic Maze. Whose size is
often unknown. (usually 100-200 sectors in size). You will be
asked which direction you wish to go. Valid Commands are N S E W
D U. Attack option will be made available to you when other
Robos are in your current sector. NOTE: You can't attack thieves
or galactic slime. If you step into slime, *don't do it again*
else the slime shall feast again!
Q)uit - For the weak and useless!
Thats all for now.... Good Luck and hope you enjoy your Robo Wars Mission!
